HappyTravels: Chamonix, France
Chamonix is a magical ski town located in the north western area of the French Alps and home of the infamous ski destination, Mount Blanc, one of the highest mountains in all of Europe.
Being in Chamonix is the ultimate HappyHunt. You are lost in the beauty and the wonder of the mountains that surround you and warmed by the charm and ambiance of the town at night. There really is something about being in the mountains that infuses you with joy and peace. Maybe it's the cheer of falling snow, or the awe of the jagged peaks hovering above you that calls you to adventure. You can't go wrong being in the mountains, but somehow a visit to Chamonix is on a whole other level of winter escapes.
If you are all about mountain sports, then Chamonix is your place. Mount Blanc spreads out through not only France, but also parts of Switzerland and Italy. So with an all-access ski pass, you can plunge through the soft powder of three different countries in one day!
When you have no more skiing left in you for the day, checkout the Après-Ski scene of the town. Hit the bars from when the mountain closes till when your night ends and meet people from all around the world coming to get a taste of the magic of this place.
If you aren't planning on hitting the slopes, don't fret, Chamonix offers many attractions and shopping for those who don't ski. Take the Aiguille du Midi cable car to the highest peaks of the mountain to be surrounded by the most vast panoramic views in the Alps. Visit the ice caves through the Montenvers Railway if you are in the mood for a more chill day. With all the money you saved not buying a ski pass, spend it all away at the numerous shops in town!
And as for food recommendations, as long as you bite into the infamous fondue of the french alps, you are doing it right! Even buy a fresh baguette or some yummy macaroons for the perfect snack on the go.
So next time you are in need of a whimsical winter getaway to fulfill your mountain wanderlust, be sure to book your voyage to Chamonix!
