The Power of Dreams
So last night, after watching far too many TED Talks to leave feeling uninspired, I stumbled across Amy Purdy's talk called "Living Beyond Limits." When Amy was only 19, she lost both her legs to meningitis. Just when her previous dreams and aspirations for her life suddenly seemed lost, she began to pick up the pen and write out the rest of her life's story. Now, Amy is one of the top ranked adaptive snowboarders in the world, the 2014 Sochi Paralympic bronze medalist and currently the only double-leg amputee competing in snowboarding at the world-class level. So ya, she may be one of the raddest people of all time.
After hearing Amy's story, I was so refreshed and inspired by her creative and positive outlook that enabled her to turn a major obstacle into a beautiful masterpiece of perseverance and heart. So after a glass of wine and that gust of motivation to be more like Amy during my times of trials and boundaries, I got carried away and wrote this little piece in my journal. It's a mix between a parable and a reminder-to-self that each morning we wake up with the choice to either bloom or break amidst the obstacles of our life. And personally, I'm going to make it a goal to start blooming each morning. So voila! Here's to blooming our way to happiness!
